Offically Fall. lame.

Well then, time for round 2. Summer is officially over as of this weekend. Really it was over for me a month ago when school started but whatever I don’t make calendars. Summer was great in every way. Friends, baseball, no school. Hard to ask for more. But this year the movies really delivered. Music, although, can be wrapped up in one word. fun. If you haven’t heard of fun, you need to. Just stop reading for now. Click This. And come back in 4 minutes.

How great was that. The whole album is fantastic. Go get it. But now onto the movies. I spent roughly…80…maybe 70 dollars at the movies. I don’t really know how much, but the point is all of the money was worth it except the 7 dollars I spent on Transformers 2 (I may have watched some movies magically on my computer). More on that shit storlarge_kristen_stewart_adventurelandm later. Let’s start with Adventureland. It came out April 8th i know, but I’m counting it. It was fantastic. It was funny, charming, sad. I fell in love with Kristen Stewart. She really is an amazing actress. That is of course based off of that one movie. I have never seen Twilight, but I’m going to assume she really doesn’t turn heads in that. (“I love you…but I’m dangerous…but i love you.” Jordan Stanford sums up twilight). After seeing it, I really wanted a summer job at Kennywood, just to fall in love with Em (Kristen Stewart). Speaking of Love, (500) Days of Summer, left me speechless. I just saw it yesterday for the first time and I cannot wait to buy it on DVD. Whoever the director was, I tip my hat to him. Now, onto I Love You, Man. Also not technically summer, but whatever. I think my friend Ryan Colburn (Fresno State QB) really hit the nail on the head when he called it a “Dick Flick.” It really is a chick flick for guys. Some people called it gay, for whatever reason, but I thought it summed up male friendships perfectly. And who doesn’t love Andy Samberg.

So where are we now…Star Trek maybe. I’m a tad biased as a huge J.J. Abrams fan, but I think we can all agree that it was far better than the expectations. Zachary Quinto did a great job as Spock, granted I rarely watch old star trek with Nimoy. I heard he was pretty good though. Anyway, that was the perfect modern summer movie. Great action, great comedy, great characters, and a confusing plot. While we are on this subject, Transformers 2. The perfect summer movie. Great action, completely forgettable characters, an incredibly sexy girl to distract from some of the worst dialogue ever, racism (really, it was quite racist), and of course a confusing plot. Not like robots from space confusing, more like robots from space trying to blow up the sun with a gun they hid in the pyramids, so that they can harvest earth, or something terribly stupid like that.

UP isn’t really worth talking about. It’s Disney Pixar. It’s amazing. Old news. Harry Potter kind of falls in the same category as all of the rest. Good movie, Emma Watson is gorgeous,it was fun to watch. Moving on the the “Meh” category, Hmegan-fox-bloody-jennifers-bodyangover, meh. Don’t get me wrong it was funny, but that’s about it. I won’t mean mugg on it though, it made a lot of money. Good for them. And that does it for the meh category. You know what, we can throw Jennifer’s Body into that….wait. No. That was god awful. I swear to you that a 2nd grade class pulled all their efforts to write the dialogue. And the plot…wow. Let me sum it up for you. A band wants to be famous so they sacrifice a virgin to Satan, TWIST, shes not really a virgin. This apparently turns her into a demon, who then ravages the town feeding on young boys until her best friend kills her. Yup. But wait, Megan Fox is in it, and she is one of the hottest girls on the planet. Well that may be true, but as a possessed demon who is covered in blood most of the movie, not so much. It is kind of like they chose her for her acting not her sex appeal. Good move. Really. Shes good. Oscar worthy. Seriously though, if she is ever on that stage accepting an academy award for anything I will throw up.

And for closure a Top 5 List

1. I Love You, Man

2. Adventureland

3. (500) Days of Summer

4. Star Trek

5. Inglorious Bastards

A couple quick thoughts: Ravens are 2-0 and winning the divison, The Office is as funny as ever, Community was really good, Drake’s EP was kind of lame, KiD CuDi and Paramore are at Merriweather Oct. 23 and I cannot wait to buy my ticket.
